carecompare.net is a free-to-use, online platform being supported in the NHS which enables patients who are self-funding their care to quickly and safely find local home (domiciliary) care companies who can help. The patient or their relative enter their care request information including the type of care they need, preferences, location and when they want it to start. This is then sent anonymously to relevant care companies that provide this type of care- those who are available reply with offers of care that the user can choose between based on CQC profile, price, company profile and when they can start. This empowers patients with choice and speeds up the process of finding care. Care Compare is being supported by the NHS England Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, Academic Health Science Networks, CCGs in the South East and several charities. It is now live in Buckinghamshire and is ideal for patients who are self-funding their care who approach NHS staff asking for support finding a private domiciliary care provider.
